Symbolism of Musaka (mouse)

There are Pauranic stories of Lord Ganesh’s ride, the humble mouse. But it’s deepest philosophical meaning is brought out by Sree Swami Karpatriji in his essays.

Musaka represents the all pervading yet secret life principle that resides in the deepest corner of the heart (like a mouse secretly residing in its deep hole). Remaining in every being’s innermost recesses, it is the principle that enjoys everything yet remains unknown and remains untouched and unmoved. It remains at the service of the all-knowing, all pervading Lord Ganesha.

ईश्वरः सार्वभोक्ता च चोरबतत्र संस्थितः | स एव मूषकः प्रोक्तो मनुजानां प्रचालकः ||
